Changing Lives Benefit and Companies With A Mission (CWAM)

Boardwalk’s Changing Lives Benefit is run in partnership with an international youth organization called Youth With A Mission (YWAM) and their Homes of Hope program. Each simple home is built by a team of 15-20 Boardwalk Associates in two days of work. The homes are then fully furnished with supplies that are donated by Boardwalk.

Changing Lives Benefit

We believe in constantly working to improve the communities in which our buildings reside, and communities throughout the world. Three times a year, 75 of our Associates go to Tijuana, Mexico, to build houses to improve the future for families in need. The 9 homes we build per year do not solve Mexico's poverty or homelessness, but they are small global steps that make a significant local impact.

Put simply, charity home building is a life-changing event for both the families who receive the homes and the Associates who build them. For participants, the memories, global perspective, and appreciation of the benefits we enjoy in Canada are significant and lifelong.

Companies With A Mission

Many individuals and companies are interested in Boardwalk’s Changing Lives Benefit, which is run in conjunction with an international youth organization called Youth With A Mission (YWAM) and their Homes of Hope program. However, many companies imagine that the organization of a home building trip must be incredibly difficult. We want to encourage companies to consider hosting their own Changing Lives Benefit – Homes of Hope trip.

Companies With A Mission (CWAM) provides the logistical tools to enable companies to more easily organize and execute Changing Lives Benefit – Homes of Hope home-building projects for their Associates. Any company can plan a Changing Lives Benefit – Homes of Hope home build, and anyone who is physically able to handle light to moderate, unskilled labour can participate in the build.

Our CWAM planning support is completely free of charge, as our motivation for starting this program is to encourage other companies to participate in this very worthwhile cause.

We can provide you with a Planning Guide, which includes in-house promotion templates, suggested timelines, checklists, budgets, and templates for all participant information hand-outs.

Aside from the fact that you will be improving the lives of several families forever, there are many reasons to consider a CWAM Changing Lives Benefit – Homes of Hope. As Corporate Social Responsibility is becoming increasingly important, today's Associates are more likely to stay with their employer if they believe in the social ideals that their company supports. Further, companies that use active Associate participation to invest in social causes see improved morale, productivity, and leadership. Investors, Stakeholders and Customers like to see that companies "walk the talk". Finally, and most importantly, a CWAM Changing Lives Benefit – Homes of Hope build is an investment in your Associates, yourself and your company.
