Boardwalk is a customer service focused organization
that is keenly aware of the human element in our business.
The Community Development and Social Services Department
was created for two main purposes:
-
To foster collaboration with Government and
Social Service agencies to provide affordable housing.
-
To assist our customers who are in financial need
Subsidy Program
BOARDWALK'S RESPONSE TO LEGITIMATE FINANCIAL NEED
- We have addressed the concern brought about by low vacancy rates and rising rents by setting a low maximum per rental increase for our customers.
- Boardwalk will now re-consider rental increases for fixed income or hardworking lower income customers, if it is deemed a rent increase is responsible for inducing a financial hardship.
SOLUTIONS FOR CUSTOMERS IN FINANCIAL HARDSHIP
- Direction to community and social service agencies
- Direction to Government Subsidy programs
- Transfers to more affordable Boardwalk suites, including financial help with some costs associated with the move
- Allowing the premature release of your Security Deposit
- Rent relief in the form of waiving a rental increase, a temporary rent freeze, or temporary rent reduction
WHO IS ELIGIBLE FOR RENT RELIEF?
The minimum requirements in order to qualify are:
- You must have been a Boardwalk tenant for at least twelve months with your account in good standing
- Over 40% of your family net income must go to rental payments
- Boardwalk does not receive government support or any special tax credit for this private initiative.
The requirements mentioned above should be viewed as a minimum, as we are working with limited resources.
