Giving & Gathering 2018

Published: January 15, 2019

It’s been an amazing holiday season here at Boardwalk. Between shoebox packing here at our head office and plenty of holiday gathering at our communities, it’s been jam-packed with fun, food, and charity. Let’s check out what fun went down this holiday season at Boardwalk!

Canada - Operation Christmas Child

Every year, Boardwalk Associates and Residents come together across Canada in support of Operation Christmas Child. Many of our Associates go above and beyond in their fundraising efforts.

Mark Cartwright (Warehouse Manager – London, ON) and his wife Jenn were so inspired by Boardwalk’s involvement with Samaritan’s Purse that they took it upon themselves to host an annual packing party. This year, Mark and Jenn set their goal to an unbelievable 2000 shoeboxes. Thanks to more than 125 volunteers, they successfully reached their goal!

London, ON – Salvation Army Christmas Hamper Toy Drive

Residents were invited to donate toys to the Salvation Army’s Christmas Hamper Program in London, ON. Over 50 books, games and toys were donated before December 9, 2018. All toys were donated to the Salvation Army’s Christmas Hamper Program. Residents who donated were entered to win a $250 gift card. Congratulations to Dave Corke from The Bristol who was the lucky gift card winner.

Edmonton, AB - Ugly Sweater Christmas Party & Tree Decorating

Edmonton Residents came together at Wimbledon in their best Christmas-themed sweaters to make ornaments, decorate the tree and enjoy some festive treats!

One of our Residents even brought down an accordion for all his neighbours to enjoy!

Santa for Seniors – Regina, SK

Regina Residents and Associates came together to take part in Santa for Seniors. They enjoyed holiday treats while filling gift bags for seniors who otherwise may not have had a gift to open on over the holidays. Boardwalk Associates then set off to deliver the gifts to the very thankful caretakers at the Lutheran Home for Seniors.

Christmas Baskets – Les Amis de Samuel - Québec, QC

Our Quebec Associates had a great time building Christmas baskets for Les Amis de Samuel – a non-profit organization that collects food, clothing and other supplies for disadvantaged students.

The team had fun donating their time and effort to those in need, especially so close to Christmas.

Adopt-a-School – Saskatoon, SK

Since 2013, Boardwalk has delivered one gift from Santa to each student at Westmount Elementary School.

Our Associates wrap the presents, host a pizza party and hand out the presents to all the children.

We can’t wait to see all the giving and gathering that happens in the next holiday season!
