Ice on Whyte 2019
Published: February 4, 2019Boardwalk was proud to be the lead sponsor if Edmonton’s Ice on Whyte Festival again this year. The two-weekend festival runs from January 24 to 27 and January 31 to February 3, 2019. Founded in 2011 by the Ice on Whyte Festival Society, the yearly event encourages the appreciation of art and culture so visitors can experience outdoor creativity.

The International Ice Carving Competition is one of only three ice carving competitions in Canada. This year’s contest was held inside a tent to control the temperature and protect the sculptures from the outside weather.

As the lead sponsor of the event, Boardwalk offered over 900 exclusive Get in Free passes to its Residents. The passes also allowed for quick and easy access to the Festival through the Boardwalk VIP entrance

After viewing the ice sculptures, guests were invited to create their own small ice carvings in the inflatable igloo. L’il and Big Chipper classes were held for people of all ages. Guests could also visit the Ice Bar for a delicious locally crafted drink.

Each year, the Festival is held in the heart of Old Strathcona - an arts and entertainment area that is filled with unique shopping, dining and entertainment.

We can’t wait for Boardwalk’s Sand on Whyte Festival this Summer.
