The Power of Language

After moving to Calgary from Tajikistan with his family in November 2016, Shamshod Yuldashev found his home with Boardwalk as a Customer Service Representative. Within little time, Shamshod’s passion and dedication were recognized, and he was promoted to Community Coordinator. Having been inspired by Boardwalk’s commitment to community, Shamshod decided that he wanted to give back in a special way.

“As a Community Coordinator, I get to see firsthand the positive impact that community programs have on others. My experience in this role is what inspired me to act and do something that I was proud of. I wanted to do give back to my hometown in some way.”

Shamshod partnered with Smart English Uzbekistan to open a school in his home town of Tajikistan. Together they opened Smart English Tajikistan, a school where children can learn English and Russian languages and receive a high-quality education for an affordable price.

“I believe that language has huge power. It can take you many places and open many doors. This is why I wanted to open a language school. It’s important for children to receive a high-quality education.”

The school officially opened its doors to the public on September 2nd, 2018. In just two months Smart English Tajikistan has enrolled more than 330 students. Today, four talented teachers and an administrator lead the school’s daily programs.

“This is more than I could have ever dreamed of. I would have never imagined that so many parents and children would be interested in the programs we offer.”
