Help us Fight Diabetes!
Published: April 23, 2019A new year comes with new challenges and resolutions. More importantly, a new year is a chance for new hope. Last year Boardwalk residents and associates collected an incredible 353,478 lbs. of clothing by the end of 2018. This converted to the equivalent of 47 children living with Type-1 Diabetes attending one of Diabetes Canada's 12 D-Camps
Our Boardwalk Family is looking forward to exceeding the goals we made last year, and we’re off to a great start. Between January 1, 2019, and April 1, 2019, the total pounds contributed by Boardwalk is 83,956 lbs. which is the equivalent of sponsoring 11 children living with Type-1 Diabetes to attend one of Diabetes Canada’s 12 D-Camps.
Diabetes Canada’s D-Camps offer a medically supervised setting where kids can meet and be inspired by each other to manage their diabetes. Donations will also help fund leading Canadian research in the development of new treatments, devices, and solutions to prevent type 2 diabetes.
We encourage everyone to contribute to our blue and white bins outside our apartment buildings:
Acceptable donation items include:
- Accessories and Bags
• Clothing (All Types)
• Curtains
• General Household Textiles (Towels, Blankets and Sheets)
• Shoes and Boots
• Sleeping Bags
Please refrain from adding the following items to the blue and white bins:
- Electronics & Sports Equipment
• Organic & Hazardous Materials
• Any other textile items that do not fit inside the bin
It is important to keep in mind that the donations of these items can negatively affect our charitable bottom line.
